TEACHING READING COMPREHENSION USING GROUP DISCUSSION

English as the first foreign language in Indonesia has important learn. Some aspects leaning cover listening, speaking reading and writing. All are crucial for learners to be mastered thus, can essential aspect of all. In reading, difficulties that occur during lesson is activity. It necessary teachers establish a good activity teaching learning The author implemented group discussion answer problem research established by quantitative method quasi experimental design with pre test posttest instrument research. population seventh grade students SMP Negeri 4 CikalongWetan sample 30 7 A experiment class B control class. data collected analyzed SPSS using Mann Whitney U 0.05 level significance. result shows value significance 0.010 which less than coefficient (0.010<0.05) null hypothesis rejected. conclusion, there significant difference between students’ comprehension both class.Key Words : Group Discussion, Reading Comprehension
